Hello there, I hope you are as well as these little birds busy chirping in my backyard.
So, what is naturism?
Naturism is a lifestyle of practicing non-sexual nudity amongst nature, either by yourself or with others. This can be sunbathing in your backyard, attending a nudist beach, hiking or even taking a stroll in the forest. It's closely related and can go hand in hand with nudism, which has everything related to naturism, but now minus the nature part. In this blog, we are going to talk about the two merged together.
We have indoor naturism/nudism and outdoor naturism/nudism. In indoor, you practice non-sexual nudity within your house and in outdoor, it's a practice outside the house.
Butt...what are the benefits of naturism/nudism in the first place?
Naturism helps in the general well-being of the mind and body, in connection with body positivity.
We are brought up with a mindset that a nude body is a shameful body, that needs to be covered up and tucked away. Don't get me wrong, clothes do come in handy when it's cold, protection from a scorching sun or other environmental hazards and even expressing your fashion sense. But they shouldn't be used to hide away "your shame".
Your body is not sin and neither is it shame. Rather, it is beautifully and wonderfully made. Naturism helps you to realize and reinforce this. Bringing us to the point of the well-being of both the mind and body.
You will find yourself in a place of full acceptance of who you are and how you look, without on-screen or magazine comparisons of what beauty standards are. Instead, you become your own definition of beauty.
Where does Kenya come in all this?
Well, I'm writing this blog from the same location with the perspective of shame and taboo surrounding the topic. But I am sure after this insight, for those already practicing now have a title for it and newbies can take a test of the water too.
Remember to be as respectful as possible and mindful of other people's beliefs and standings while at it!
Until next time, bye!
